What is Behavioral Medicine?

Behavioral Medicine is an interdisciplinary field that is concerned with the development and integration of behavioral, psychosocial, and biomedical science knowledge and techniques relevant to the understanding of health and illness, and the application of this knowledge and these techniques to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

The field of Behavioral Medicine is broad in scope. Many practitioners in the behavioral medicine field have obtained specialty training in research and clinical treatment and use this skill set to supplement assessment and treatment.

Dr. Applegate has spent his entire career working with the medical field, and has expertise in several areas of behavioral medicine including:
